In 2006 while traveling through India my Dad emailed me asking “Where in the world are you?” This was my first real international trip, and I think he was a little worried. I replied with a long, winding yarn of my last few days which he promptly shared with his entire office. I cc’d family and friends and my ‘travelogue’ was born. Since then, I’ve visited France, Italy, Switzerland, Hawaii and Greece. With each trip, the writing became more and more important as a way to document my experience, focus on personal growth and stay connected with the my extended family and friends. In Greece, I was about to chicken out on a 30 foot leap into the ocean, but reconsidered when faced with the prospect of reporting my cowardice to folks at home.
Email, however, is dated in todays socially networked world. Seeing as how I finance these trips by selling ‘the cloud,’ I find it necessary to embrace in my personal life as well.
